A fact of our country is that we have great water resources that are used to supply the population. But water care by Colombians is little, there is much drought and polluted by garbage that throws population rivers and lakes rivers of the country. This means that the water is very polluted in some areas of the country to the point that it is a difficult task purify for consumption.

‘’The effect on water quality, expressed in pollutant loads of biodegradable material, non-biodegradable, nutrients, heavy metals and mercury; It is concentrated in about 150 municipalities including cities like Bogota, Medellin, Cali, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Cúcuta, Villavicencio, Bucaramanga and Manizales.’’ (Prensa, 2016)

But not everything is bad, because according to the National Water Study (Prensa, 2016) 61 water systems were identified, whose geographical location coincides with subzones characterized by high pressure use, pollution, vulnerability to shortages, variability and climate change.
